Electrotherapy Agents (ETAs)

At Timberlands Physiotherapy Clinic, we also use various and appropriate electrotherapy modalities to assist with pain and muscle spasm relief, and soft tissue healing to further enhance the restoration of your function. Some ETAs use various intensities of electromagnetic radiations to enhance blood flow and tissue repair. Currently available safety approved electrotherapy modalities include:

» Interferential Current (IFC)
» Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulator (TENS)
» Electrical Muscle Stimulator (EMS)
» Low intensity Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation (LASER) Therapy
» Ultrasound Therapy (U/S)

ETAs are not used in isolation but in combination with other treatment options like manual therapy to achieve best treatment outcomes.
